Yellow jackets are aggressive wasps that nest in the ground, walls, and structures and will sting repeatedly when disturbed. XtermaPro removes yellow jacket nests safely and effectively.
Yellow jackets are medium-sized (12-15mm), bright yellow and black wasps that are commonly mistaken for bees. Unlike bees, they are smooth, fast, and extremely aggressive when their nest is threatened. They nest in the ground, in wall voids, attics, and beneath deck boards making them especially hazardous to encounter unexpectedly.
Yellow jacket warning signs:
Yellow jackets can sting repeatedly and do not lose their stinger like honeybees. For those with allergies, a yellow jacket encounter can cause anaphylaxis. Even without an allergy, multiple stings from an agitated colony can cause serious reactions. Ground nests are particularly dangerous as they can be stumbled upon accidentally.
Yellow jacket treatment requires direct nest treatment not just perimeter spraying. Our technicians apply professional insecticide directly into the nest entrance at the optimal time, neutralizing the colony. For in-wall nests, we may need to access the void to ensure complete elimination.

Yellowjacket colonies peak in late summer with thousands of workers, and the queen stops producing food for the hive. Workers switch to scavenging sweets and meat, which puts them in direct contact with people at patios, picnics, and garbage bins.
In the ground in abandoned rodent burrows, inside wall voids, under deck boards, in shed rafters, and occasionally in dense shrubs. Ground nests are the most common and the most dangerous because they are easy to step on.
The entry hole is dusted with a residual product that foragers carry inside on their bodies, which kills the colony from the inside out. The hole is then sealed. This is safer and more effective than spraying liquid down the hole, which can drive workers out defensive.
Please keep everyone indoors during the initial treatment and for 1 to 2 hours after. Once the treatment is dry and the active workers are knocked down, kids and pets can return to the yard safely.
Fill in abandoned rodent holes, seal openings in sheds and decks, and keep garbage and recycling bins tightly closed through the summer. A preventive spring visit stops queens from establishing early, which is the single most effective long term fix.
