American cockroaches are the largest roach species in Ontario, 35 to 53 mm long, reddish brown, with a yellow figure 8 mark behind the head. They can fly short distances and are usually found in basements, boiler rooms, sewers, and crawlspaces.
They prefer warm damp environments with access to drainage. Floor drains, sump pumps, and sewer laterals are the most common entry points. Treatment focuses on sealing those pathways and baiting the areas where they rest during the day.
They are not aggressive but they are a sanitation risk. American cockroaches spread salmonella, E. coli, and allergens linked to asthma. Children, elderly residents, and anyone with a respiratory condition should avoid contact.
Usually two to three visits over 30 to 45 days. Visit one knocks down the active population and eggs, visit two verifies the knock down, and a final visit confirms no new activity from drain pathways or the exterior.
Screen floor drains, seal gaps around sewer pipes and sump pits, keep basements dry with a dehumidifier, and store cardboard off the floor. We walk you through each of these during the final visit.
Same day service available. Free quotes. No obligation. Discreet unmarked vehicles.
