Fleas multiply rapidly and are notoriously difficult to eliminate without treating both your pets and your home simultaneously. XtermaPro Pest Control provides complete flea treatment that breaks the lifecycle.
Cat fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) are the most common species in Ontario homes despite the name, they infest cats, dogs, and humans alike. They're tiny (1-3mm), reddish-brown, and virtually invisible. For every flea you see on your pet, there are roughly 100 more in various life stages hidden in your carpet, furniture, and bedding.
Signs of a flea infestation:
Fleas cause intense itching, skin irritation, and hair loss in pets. They transmit tapeworms and, in large numbers, can cause anaemia in young animals. Flea bite dermatitis is a common allergic reaction in both pets and humans. Fleas also served as vectors for bubonic plague historically, though this is not a concern in Ontario.
Effective flea treatment requires more than one approach. We treat your home with professional residual insecticide and insect growth regulator (IGR) the IGR prevents eggs and larvae from developing into adults. You must treat your pets simultaneously with a veterinarian-recommended product. We advise on full preparation steps before treatment.

Yes. Fleas come in on wildlife like raccoons, squirrels, and feral cats, on used furniture, or from a previous tenant who had pets. Once eggs are in the carpet they can lie dormant for months and hatch when vibration or warmth signals a host is present.
Flea eggs are resistant to most products and hatch over a 2 to 3 week window. A single spray kills the adults but not the next hatch. Our treatment includes an insect growth regulator that interrupts the life cycle, plus a follow up visit timed to the hatch.
Pets should be out during application and for 3 to 4 hours after, until surfaces are dry. Cats and dogs can then return to treated areas. Your pet should also be on a vet prescribed flea control product at the same time or the cycle restarts.
Yes. Wash pet bedding on the hottest safe setting, vacuum all carpets and upholstered furniture (including under cushions), and empty the vacuum bag into an outdoor bin. This removes 30 to 60 percent of the flea population before treatment even starts.
Most homes are flea free within 21 to 30 days. You will see a drop within 48 hours, more biting during the next hatch at week 2, and full clearance by week 4 after the follow up visit.
