Bumble bees are important pollinators but can become a problem when they nest near your home or in locations that put people at risk. XtermaPro handles bumble bee situations professionally and responsibly.
Bumble bees are large, robust, and fuzzy easy to distinguish from the slender yellow jacket or wasp. They nest in the ground, in abandoned rodent burrows, compost bins, and occasionally in wall voids or under sheds. Colonies are relatively small (50-500 bees) compared to wasps and are generally docile unless the nest is directly threatened.
Signs of bumble bee nesting activity:
While bumble bees are not naturally aggressive, they will sting if their nest is disturbed or if they feel threatened and unlike honeybees, they can sting more than once. People with bee sting allergies face serious risk. Nests in high-traffic areas near children or pets should be dealt with professionally.
We assess each bumble bee situation individually. Where possible and practical, we advise on approaches that address the immediate safety concern. For nests in walls, under structures, or in locations posing genuine risk, we perform professional treatment to protect your family.

No. Bumble bees are beneficial pollinators and are protected. Where possible we relocate the colony rather than exterminate. Relocation is only done when the nest poses a real safety risk, for example beside a frequently used doorway or in a child play area.
Bumble bees have a fuzzy abdomen and are usually yellow and black. Carpenter bees have a shiny black abdomen and bore round holes into wood. If it is hovering by your deck trim and drilling, it is a carpenter bee. If it is on flowers and the back end is fuzzy, it is a bumble bee.
Bumble bees are gentle and rarely sting unless the nest is stepped on or swatted. Colonies are small, usually under 400 bees, and naturally die out in the fall. If the nest is away from foot traffic, the best plan is often to leave it alone for the season.
Pricing depends on nest size, location, and accessibility. The $99 onsite inspection gives you a firm quote, and the fee is credited toward the service if you book with us. Most bumble bee relocations fall in a predictable residential range.
Relocation is done in the early morning or late evening when the colony is calmer and most workers are home. The nest is collected into a transport box and moved to a safe offsite location. On site time is usually under an hour.
