Brown marmorated stink bugs invade Ontario homes in fall by the hundreds to overwinter and they release a foul odour when disturbed. XtermaPro removes them safely and seals your home against further invasion.
The brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys) is an invasive species from Asia that has established itself across southern Ontario. They're brown, shield-shaped, and about 14mm. In fall, they seek warm shelter for winter entering homes through gaps around windows, doors, and utility penetrations in large numbers. Disturbing or crushing them releases a strong, unpleasant odour.
Signs of stink bug invasion:
Stink bugs are not dangerous to humans they don't bite, sting, or spread disease. Their primary impact is the odour they release when crushed or handled, and the sheer number that can enter homes in fall. They also cause agricultural damage to fruit crops. The main concern is preventing the mass overwintering invasion.
The most effective stink bug control is exclusion before they enter sealing cracks around windows, doors, utility penetrations, and siding gaps in late summer. We also apply targeted perimeter treatments to deter entry. For existing indoor populations, we safely remove bugs without triggering their odour defence.

Brown marmorated stink bugs invade homes in fall looking for a warm place to overwinter. They find their way in through attic vents, window frames, and gaps in siding. Late September through early November is the peak invasion window in Ontario.
They do not bite and do not damage wood or fabric. The concerns are sheer numbers, the smell they release when crushed or disturbed, and staining on curtains and walls. They can also damage fruit and vegetable gardens during the summer.
We vacuum up the active adults (crushing releases the odour) and apply a residual to attic spaces, wall voids, and entry points. Fall exterior treatment of the roofline, soffits, and sunny south facing walls stops the next wave from getting in.
Early September before they start invading. A single exterior treatment applied before the fall push keeps 80 to 90 percent of stink bugs outside for the season. Treating in November after they are already inside is always a catch up effort.
Screen attic vents and weep holes, caulk gaps around window and door frames, and fix damaged screens. Schedule a preventive exterior treatment in early September. Our protection plan includes this visit automatically.
